Norbert E. McGuire, Jr.

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ - Norbert E. McGuire, Jr., 85, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Norbert was born November 4, 1931 in Easton, PA. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1949 and from Churchman Business School. Norbert served in the US Army. He attended Lafayette College and Muhlenburg College. Norbert worked at Fimbel Door in Whitehouse, NJ for 20 years and at Riegel Paper Corp. for many years. He had many interests and hobbies. Norbert enjoyed traveling the country, visiting national parks and Alaska, attending various jazz festivals, and driving the countryside to photograph covered bridges. He also enjoyed gardening, photography, model railroading, American History, hunting, trap shooting, cats, and was an avid reader. Norbert was a lifetime member of the Farmers Sportsman Club in Holland Township, NJ, a lifetime member of the NRA, served on the board of the PA Jazz Society, a former member of Queen City Jazz in Buffalo, NY, and a former member of the PA Covered Bridge Society.

Son of the late Norbert E. McGuire, Sr. and Ruth (Amey) McGuire, Norbert is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Twila (Rodger) McGuire, his son Douglas McGuire and his wife Christine of Statesville, NC, his two daughters Kathleen Butler and her husband Glenn of Hellertown, PA and Holly King and her husband Todd of Tellico Plains, TN, his sister Carol Turchi of Alpha, NJ, his eight grandchildren Patrick, Nathaniel, Christian, Daniel, Andrew, Lauren, Katherine, and Sarah, and his two great-grandchildren Connor and Alesana.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Interment will follow at the Belfast Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 PM and Tuesday morning from 9-10 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
