James L. Hewitt

KINGWOOD TOWNSHIP, NJ - James L. Hewitt, 78, of Kingwood Township, Stockton, NJ, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at his home.

Jim was born June 25, 1939 in Trenton, NJ. He grew up in Kingwood Township, graduated from Frenchtown High School in 1957 and lived mostly in Ottsville, PA and Stockton. He served honorably, for 4 years, in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. Jim worked as a carpenter for his father and partner's business, Hewitt & Danese. The remainder of his career he was self employed. He helped many friends and family with his skills. He built and raced his own stock car, enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

Jim was the son of Lloyd and Marion (Opdyke) Hewitt. He is survived by two sons John O'Toole and his wife Suzy, of Nantucket, MA, Michael Vogler of Salisbury, MD, and two daughters Coleen Shronk and Judy Hewitt, both of Harleysville, PA, his two brothers Carl Hewitt and his wife Carolyn, of Wiscasset, ME, David Hewitt of Stockton, NJ and his sister Arlene Sundberg, of Skipwith, VA, an ex-wife Gertie Hewitt of Tucson, his four grandchildren John, Heidi, Lilly, Daniel, and a great-granddaughter Mackenzie, beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and his loving companion Barbara Botka.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ starting at 10 AM for visitation followed by an 11 AM memorial service.
