Nuncie John Lugara

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ - Nuncie John Lugara, 93, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Twining Village in Holland, PA.

Born March 28, 1925 in Kenilworth, NJ, John lived in Orange, NJ and Cranford, NJ before moving to Holland Township, NJ in 1973. John served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II. While serving in Europe he was involved in D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. He worked as a quality control supervisor at Koh-I-Noor in Bloomsbury, NJ for ten years, retiring in 1992. Prior to that, he worked at Weston Instruments in Newark, NJ for 31 years. John loved the outdoors, especially gardening and planting and caring for his peach trees. He enjoyed woodworking and on his own he built a set of cabinets in his home. John was a member of St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church in Milford, NJ and of Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church in Baptistown, NJ. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Delaware Valley Chapter, a member of the American Legion Fidelity Post #113 in Frenchtown, NJ, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a twenty-five year member of the Holland Township Planning Board.

Son of the late Antonio and Frances (Pisca) Lugara, John is survived by his son Anthony J. Lugara of Holland Township, NJ, his daughter Frances M. Heuer and her husband Larry of Milford, NJ, his sister Rose Muravsky, and his two grandchildren John and Lauren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Josephine A. (Cimilluca) Lugara, on May 3, 1999, his two brothers Joseph and Anthony, and his three sisters Pauline, Josephine, and Mary.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 2-4 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church, 1005 Route 519, Baptistown, NJ. Entombment with military honors will follow at the St. Magdalen Mausoleum in Flemington, NJ.
