Joseph V. Ukarish, Jr.

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ - Joseph V. Ukarish, Jr., 70, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his home.

Born February 23, 1948 in Phillipsburg, NJ, Joe lived most of his life on his family's farm in Kingwood Township, NJ, before moving to Holland Township thirteen years ago. He graduated from Delaware Valley Regional High School in 1966, where he was a wrestler and played on the football team. Joe attended Doylestown College. He worked as a receiver for Tractor Supply in Flemington, NJ, previously in Washington, NJ, for thirteen years and was planning on retiring soon. Prior to that, Joe worked as a warehouse manager for Lipton Tea in Flemington, NJ, where he worked for twenty seven years. Joe was a farmer and loved farm life. In recent years, he put his last farm, in Kingwood, into the Hunterdon County Farmland Preservation Program. Joe enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening. He liked sports and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Joe was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church in Baptistown, NJ, which was built in 1948 upon land that was donated, to the church, by his family. He was an active member of the Kingwood Township Volunteer Fire Co. and past Captain of the Kingwood Township Rescue Squad.

Son of the late Joseph V. Ukarish, Sr. and Mary (Ogurchak) Ukarish, Joe is survived by his beloved wife of forty five years Margaret "Peggy" Ukarish. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Bette Vamos and her husband Bruce, residing in Belle Mead, NJ, and his mother-in-law, Eleanor Applegate, residing in Hillsborough, NJ. Joe was predeceased by his brother Paul A. Ukarish in 2004.

Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
