Arthur W. Schrimpe, Sr.

ALLENTOWN, PA, FORMERLY OF HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ - Arthur W. "Chief" Schrimpe, Sr., 84, of Allentown, PA, formerly of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Phoebe Allentown Health Care Center in Allentown, PA.

Born January 26, 1934 in Cherryville, NJ, Art grew up on his family's farm in Mt. Pleasant, NJ. He lived in Holland Township, NJ for many years, before moving to Bracey, VA, where he lived for thirteen years. He moved back to the area in 2016. Art served in the US Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a general foreman for the Heavy and General Laborers Union Local 472 in Newark, NJ for many years. Art most recently worked for Van Cleef Engineering in Hunterdon County, NJ before his retirement in 1996. He was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, golfing, and spending time at the family's cabin, in Potter County, PA. Art was a member of the Darcy Lodge No. 37 F.&.A.M in Frenchtown, NJ and the American Legion Post 950 in Riegelsville, PA, an active member of the Farmers Sportsman's Club in Holland Township, NJ, and a founding member and president of the North Hunterdon Snowmobile Association. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Son of the late Edward and Catherine (Luhrs) Schrimpe, Art is survived by his beloved wife, with whom he celebrated sixty years of marriage in May, Antoinette S. Schrimpe, his two sons Kevin Arthur Schrimpe and his wife Karen and Arthur W. Schrimpe, Jr. and his wife Diane, his two daughters Cathleen A. Bates and her husband Brian and Diane Milks and her husband Scott, his eight grandchildren Laura, Christopher, William, Daniel, Kyle, Kailey, Stephanie, and Nicholas, and his two great-granddaughters Laurynn and Madelynn. He was predeceased by his son Erik C. Schrimpe in 1987, and his two brothers Edward Schrimpe and Robert Schrimpe.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 4-6 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Philip and St. James Cemetery in Greenwich Township, NJ.
