Edith M. Komarek

Edith M. Komarek, 91, of Union Township, NJ, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at St. Luke’s Warren Campus in Phillipsburg, NJ.

Edith was born and grew up in Cherryville, NJ on the family’s farm and moved to Alexandria Township, NJ, when she married her husband in 1951. In 1962, she moved to Union Township, NJ into a house built on the Komarek farm. She was a 1949 graduate of Flemington High School. Edith worked on her family’s vegetable farm and her in-law’s fruit and dairy farm for many years. She ultimately retired as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney in Phillipsburg, NJ. Edith was a member of the Hunterdon Hills Sweet Adelines Barbershop Chorus, as she loved to sing. The chorus competed and performed locally on a yearly basis. She enjoyed baking and loved her vegetable and flower gardens.

Daughter of the late Leo and Louise (Schrimpe) Schroedel, Edith is survived by her two sons George R. Komarek and his significant other Sharon of Asbury, NJ and Joe Komarek of Asbury, NJ, her brothers Leo Schroedel of Easton, PA and William Schroedel of Flemington, NJ, and her granddaughter Kathryn Komarek. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 36 years, George J. Komarek, in 1987, her brothers Edwin Schroedel and Fred Schrodel, and her sister Louise “Girlie” Schroedel.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 6-8 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Todd Fennell officiating. Interment will follow at the Bloomsbury Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pattenburg Rescue Squad, 590 Pattenburg Road, Asbury, NJ 08802.
