June Shirley Kutzman

June S. Kutzman, age 93,from Holland Township, NJ, passed away on January 28, 2023 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on June 17, 1929 in Easton, PA to Roy and Ruth Marquardt. Soon after her birth, due to unfortunate circumstances, she was adopted by Arthur and Florence Thompson of Delaware Park, NJ. June met the love of her life, Peter Kutzman, at the Easton Sweet Shop in 1948. They were married in 1951. Her husband of 62 years predeceased her on November 17, 2012.

During her teenage years, June Sang solo on Weex’s Variety Show as well as a number of other functions. During those same years, June was an avid horseback rider. June was a 1949 graduate of Phillipsburg High School and continued to dine out with her classmates for the last 30 years.

June got her sense of style and fashion from being employed by the Famous Maid Shoppe and Orr’s Department Store in Easton, PA. Later she was employed by the Holiday Inn in Phillipsburg and the Holland Township Beauty Shop.

June was very creative and enjoyed gardening and making floral arrangements. She taught flower arranging at the Riegel Ridge Community Center in Holland Township. June also designed and made women’s hats.

During the early years, June and her husband co-owned Kutzman Brothers, a garage located in Alpha, NJ. She still owned the business at the time of her death. Also during those years, they hosted many ice skating parties at their lighted pond with piped in music, a warm shed to change their skates and piping hot chocolate. June loved travelling. She and her husband travelled all 50 states in their mobile home and during later years they toured the world with their friends.

June became an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of the Holland Township Senior Citizens Group and the Holland Township Red Hat Society. She was also an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Milford.

She is survived by her daughter, Joy Martin who has been residing with her, her son Jay and his wife, Kathleen, of Mountain Lake, NJ; grandchildren, Justin, Tyler Jeremy; Sara Kate and Jennifer; great grandchildren, Cody, Gavin, Mason, Jackson, Llayton, Savannah, Hunter, Caiden and Oaklyn; special niece, Wendy Hawley of Missouri, and many other nieces, nephews and very dear friends.

As you can see from the photo, Mrs. Kutzman was always well dressed and had her hair done nicely. I remember trick-or-treating at the Kutzman's. We would be invited in for cookies or some sort of snack. The family cat would be there, dressed for Halloween. It's over 50 years later and I still remember that cat wearing a little tiara on its head! Sending much sympathy to Joy, Jay and Kathy, and the entire family.

My sincere sympathy to Joy, Jay and family. One of my fondest memory is of growing up as neighbors and ice skating at the pond. The crowd of kids they would entertain with day and night time skating made winters fun! June was always welcoming and happy. Thanks for the memories of a wonderful childhood. RIP.

Nana was always telling me a bunch of stories of how she and Grandpa Pete traveled the world together. Her stories brought me so much joy and curiosity. When I was little I would love to play with her China and Chinese furniture. I will miss her for now. Love, Cody

I remember Mrs. June Kutzman very fondly in my childhood growing-up years. She was my Mom's friend (Lorraine Fazekas). I remember riding the bus with Joy and Jay and living in Holland Twp. She was always a very pretty woman and very caring. Her warm smile always made me feel welcome in her home. My condolences to the children and their families. She is now at peace with her Lord and Savior. Revelations 21:4 says: "God will wipe every tear from our eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." One day we will be with our loved ones again as a following true "believer". Blessings, Donna Rygiel (Fazekas) and husband Bob

My parents and I became acquainted with the Kutzman's at church. June was always impeccably dressed and was always very kind, thoughtful and considerate. A wonderful role model for all to follow. June was a wonderful lady and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this most time.

I am so very sorry for the loss of such an amazingly kind, loving, caring and witty woman. I'm happy to have some great memories, that give me a good chuckle as i remember some pretty funny moments! (Broke down car, bathroom needed, stairs, and the neighbors bathroom!) Thank you for including Lleyton, I do wish we had gotten over for some brunch and tea! Every night when we say our prayers at bedtime, lleyton now includes Great Grammy June who is a "special angel in heaven who extra watches over me and my cousins", we send her a goodnight kiss and a great big goodnight hug. She will be missed by many, forgotten by none! All Our Love Renee & Lleyton
