George R. Leap, Sr.

George R. Leap, Sr. 77, of Franklin Township, NJ, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ, surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 28, 1946 in Phillipsburg, NJ, George was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, NJ. He graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High School in 1964. He served in the United States Coast Guard in Alaska during the Vietnam War. George worked as an extruder operator for Tenneco Plastics in Flemington, NJ, in maintenance and as a shift foreman for Occidental Petroleum in Flemington, NJ, and retired as maintenance supervisor from Tirpok Cleaners in Flemington, NJ. He enjoyed fishing, and camping when his children were younger. Most of all, George enjoyed spending time with his family.

Son of the late Augustus and Olga (Mittel) Leap, George is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Pati L. (Gares) Leap, his son George R. Leap, Jr. and his wife Corrine of Kingwood Township, NJ, his daughter Heather (Leap) Gibbons and her husband Kevin of Raritan Township, NJ, and his two grandchildren Ashlee and Connor. He was predeceased by his brother William Leap and his sister Janet Cole.

Services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
