Rosalie A. Yaras

Rosalie A. Yaras, also known as Nonna Rose to her family and friends, 77, of Holland Township, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Morristown Medical Center with her family by her side.

Rosalie was born on September 23, 1946 in Jersey City, NJ. Her family moved to Kenilworth, NJ when she was a sophomore in high school, where she graduated from Jonathan Dayton Regional High School. In 1971 she married her high school sweetheart Carl, and shortly after moved to Holland Township, NJ where they raised their family.

Before Rosalie and Carl married, she worked at REA Express in New York City. Later, Rosalie worked as a lunch aide at Holland Township School, a waitress at the Oak Hill Golf Club, and a teacher at the Milford YMCA Preschool for over 25 years. Most importantly, Rosalie was a wife, mother, grandmother (Nonna), and a homemaker. Nonna was known for her cheerful personality and contagious smile and laugh. She loved to cook, and her specialties were her homemade meatballs, apple crisp, and pizza. She always fed her family and friends and made sure no one ever left her house hungry. She also loved to take care of her two pets, Bolt and Boo Kitty, her beloved dog and cat. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. She loved going on family vacations to Disney World and Disneyland, Hawaii, Manasquan Beach, and Virginia Beach. Additionally, Rosalie was a devoted member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Alpha, NJ.

Rosalie played a tremendous role in the lives of her four grandchildren. You could always find her in the front row of any sporting event or show that they were a part of. She also loved to pick them up from school, where she was always the first car in the pick-up line. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she adored them greatly, as they did her. Rosalie was one of a kind, had a heart of gold, and always put others before herself.

Daughter of the late Alfred and Veronica (Kudrak) Morelli, Rosalie is predeceased by her two brother-in-laws Gary King Sr. and Joseph Somma, and her loving nephew Anthony Somma. Rosalie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Carl Yaras, her two daughters Noelle Henderson and her husband Michael, and Debra Ann Paradore; her four beloved grandchildren Ashley Rose, Brayden, Michael Jr., and Ava Rose; her brother Tony Morelli and his wife Marie, her four sisters Veronica DiStefano and her husband Rick, Judi King, Lois Zielinski, and Annmarie Somma, along with many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 6pm to 8pm at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Rosalie on Tuesday morning, October 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 830 5th Ave., Alpha, NJ, with Father David Wejnerowski officiating. Rosalie’s interment will be private.

Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, Rosalie’s family has asked that Memorial contributions be made to: For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation at www.takeabreakfromcancer.org.

Rosalie is one of those people that made this world and our township a better place to live. Always had a smile and good things to say about all. Always made time to talk to you and see how you and the family were doing. We spent many days at sporting events for our daughters and then our grandchildren. She was always first in line for seats and we were a close second. It was true pleasure knowing Rosalie for all the years Dolly and I spent in Holland . She will be missed by all. May she rest in piece.
