Joy K. Thoene

Joy K. Thoene, 88, of Alexandria Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 12, 1930 in Ossining, NY, Joy lived in Livingston, NJ before moving to Alexandria Township, NJ in 1986. She graduated from Flower Fifth Avenue Nursing School in NYC. Joy was a self-employed nurse, and at one time worked for St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ.

Joy was a force of nature. She loved working on her mini farm and could be found on her John Deere tractor from morning until dark. She enjoyed trying new things, i.e. skydiving and traveling. She loved crafts and enjoyed being creative in her own little craft room.

Daughter of the late Albert S. and Hazel (Schroff) Kinney, Joy is survived by her three sons Richard Thoene and his partner Wendy, Stanley Thoene, and Roderick Thoene and his wife Theresa, her daughter Melissa Thiel and her husband Jim, and her four grandchildren Kristyn, Jessica, Derrick, and Katrina. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Fredrick A. Thoene, Jr. in 2000.

Funeral services will private. Interment will be held at the Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg, PA. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
