Jane Gordon

Jane (Frankenfield) Gordon, 87, of Milford, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 28, 2019.

Born April 7, 1932 in Erwinna, PA, Jane lived most of her life in Milford, NJ. She graduated from Frenchtown High School in 1950 and is a graduate of Churchman's Business School in Easton, PA. Jane worked as a claims adjuster for Cigna for many years and retired as a medical billing coordinator for Hunterdon Otolaryngology. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Milford, NJ, where she volunteered her time. Jane loved the Phillies, enjoyed gardening, bird watching, antiquing, and spending time at Tinicum Park. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Daughter of the late Jacob and Ruth (Hillpot) Frankenfield, Jane is survived by her three sons Forrest Gordon and his wife Margery of Fort Wayne, IN, William Gordon and his wife Heidi of Quakertown, PA, Peter Gordon and his wife Jessica of Milford, NJ, her daughter Ellen Gordon and her husband Stephen of Milford, NJ, her brother Chet Frankenfield, her sister Jeanne Shirk, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her beloved caregiver Maria. Jane is predeceased by her beloved husband Frank Gordon, and her sisters Olive Strauss, Pearl Tange, Ida Mae Sutphin, Esther Carver, and Pauline Serfass.

An old newspaper clipping found hanging in her kitchen said, "A very beautiful life. A very interesting life. A very lucky life. I've had ugly moments in life, it is true. But they were never stupid moments, stupid tears. Even sorrows sometimes are fortunate."

Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 483, Milford, NJ 08848.

My wife and I were walking to the firehouse the day we buried my Dad. A guy from across the street at the gas station hollered "Steve!" and walked over. Said he was Bill Gordon. I don't think I had seen Bill for 30-35 years, but somehow he knew me. He said he wanted to be at my Dad's funeral, but couldn't because his Mom just died that morning! We had a very nice talk and he told me what my Dad meant to him, even through the grief of his Mom. I could tell he was hurting. I invited him over to the firehouse to see old friends. It is always a gut punch when a family member dies, even if you know it's inevitable. I am sorry for your loss Bill, Ellen, Forest and to all your extended family. I know what you are feeling and going through. Everybody grieves differently and at different times. Emotions are raw. Things are perceived that are done, said and heard in ways that they were not meant to be. Stay united as a family. That's what your Mom would want. And tell all the good stories!
