Janet M. Calvert

Janet M. Calvert

Janet M. Calvert, 67, of Milford, NJ passed away on December 5, 2019 after a year long battle with uterine cancer. A graduate of Drew University (BA) and Western Maryland University (M.Ed) she retired in 2010 after a long career at Bruce Street School for the Deaf (Newark Public Schools) first as a teacher then as Program Director and finally as Technology Coordinator. Throughout her life she was an avid horse person, cat person and bird lover.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Barbara Calvert; and survived by her sister Judith Ritchie (Daniel) of St. Paul, MN; a niece Hilary Ritchie of Minneapolis, MN; two nephews William [Will] Ritchie (Irem Metin) and Abraham [Bram] Ritchie (Rebecca Manuel) both of Chicago, IL; two great nephews (Aiden and Benjamin) and a great niece (Hazel); and a number of close friends, fellow horse people and former colleagues.

Janet believed that it is the creation of memories in life that are important, not those triggered by passing. To that end, there will be no services in her memory. You are encouraged to remember the memories she created in her lifetime. If you are interested in remembering her in a tangible way, it is suggested that you make a contribution, in her name, to your favorite equine or feline rescue charity.
