Melvin Elwood Allen, Sr.

Melvin Elwood Allen, Sr., 83, of Bridgeton Township, PA, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at his home.

Born December 17, 1936, Melvin was a lifelong resident of Upper Black Eddy, PA. He worked as a winder operator for the Riegel Paper Corporation in Milford, NJ, and Flemington, NJ, and ultimately retired from Rexham Corporation in Flemington, NJ. Melvin was a veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Japan. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed auto racing, hunting and fishing. Most of all, Melvin enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Son of the late Robert and Anna (Pursell) Allen, Melvin is survived by his son Melvin Allen, Jr. and his wife Denise of Oxford, NJ, his daughters Tracy Lynn Soos and her husband Ron of Frenchtown, NJ, and Carla Allen of Taos, NM, his stepsons Shawn Talkach and his wife Tammy of Coopersburg, PA, and Harry Lippincott and his wife Jennifer of Quakertown, PA, his stepdaughter Tina Deremer of Doylestown, PA, his brother Roland Allen of Erwinna, PA, his sister Ruth Woolf and her husband Ernie of Wyalusing, PA, his grandchildren Mitchell, Joe, Lydia, James, Savannah, Morgan, Skylar, Kaylee, Ashley, and Carter, his great-grandchildren Gianna, Azalea, Arizanna, London, and Harper, and by his previous spouses Gail (Strouse) Hoover of Frenchtown, NJ and Janet (Pursell) Allen of Ottsville, PA. Melvin is predeceased by his grandson Brandon, his brothers Donald "Spike" Allen, Sr. and Robert Allen, and his sister Arlene Pursell.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
