Paul J. Doucette

Paul J. Doucette

Paul J. Doucette, 82, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, NJ.

Paul was born March 6, 1940 in Waltham, MA, and lived in Avenel, NJ, before settling in Holland Township in 1976. He worked as a union electrician since 1967 and ultimately retired from C&C Electric in Bordentown, NJ. In the 1980s, Paul served as a school board member for Delaware Valley Regional High School. He loved playing cards, especially Texas Hold ‘Em, and was lucky enough to find a community of like-minded folk at the World Tavern Poker League. Paul never met a meal he didn’t like and was especially fond of lobster. He was always willing to lend a hand and could fix almost anything, even without a manual. Most of all, Paul was a family man who would go to extraordinary lengths to take care of others.

Son of the late John Charles and Catherine (Doucet) Doucette, Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Nancy (Kasprak) Doucette, his daughter Michelle Doucette Cunningham and her husband Michael of Willington, CT, his two sons Russell Doucette and his wife Heather of Warren, NJ, and Richard Doucette and his wife Cynthia of Vienna, VA, as well as his grandchildren Amelia, John, Sara, and Emma. Paul is predeceased by his brother Ronald Doucette and his sisters Diane Hines, Paulette Dion, and Catherine Summerhayes.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 6-8 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ, followed by a funeral service with military honors at 8 PM with Rev. William “Tex” Culton officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s honor in the form of donations to your local food pantry.

When dad called me Sunday to give me the heart breaking news of Paul's passing, I bowed my head in sadness. As I heard dad with tears in his voice, a tear rolled down my cheek. I will always remember Paul as a very caring and fun loving man. I know we always enjoyed coming over for visits, playing in the front yard (even with the septic tank leaching into the yard...LOL!!), eating homemade ice cream and playing pinball on the AWESOME pinball machine!! The Doucette's have always been held in very high regard to our family and words can't express my appreciation to them. We all love you and are with you as you mourn Paul's passing. I would love to be in attendance but please know my thoughts and prayers are coming your way from Ohio!! A donation to the West Ohio Food Bank in Paul's memory is now in process.

Aunt Nancy and family, I am so saddened by the news of Uncle Paul's passing. I was just thinking of you the other day and was wondering how everything was. I take solace in that it sounds like he passed shortly after winning a poker tournament. He is now at peace and surely winning up there too. Loretta and I send our deepest condolences, and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Love always...Mike and Loretta Dion

I am so overwhelmed with grief at the loss of our dear friend Paul. Our relationship goes back many decades. I have so many wonderful memories of being with him and laughing with him. His smile will stay with me forever. Our children loved going to their home because they always enjoyed being with everyone. We felt like part of the family. Yes, we certainly were a part of the family. We even lived with them for a period of time. While we won't be able to see his face I will always think about him. Knowing he is with our son Anthony means a lot to me. God bless his beautiful family. We will always be near when you need us. We made a donation to our local food pantry in his name. Blessings and love, Leslie Paul was very kind, considerate and helpful which was only surpassed by the love for his family. He was like the brother I never had! All our Love, Leslie and dennis

My family shares our deepest condolences to Nancy and family. Paul was always so friendly and a joy to be around. I fondly remember spending many evenings in my younger years at the Doucette's and Paul always being so kind and a joy to be around. In some ways he was always a big kid as he always seemed to enjoy playing games and keeping me laughing and smiling. I'll always remember his smile and great kindness.
