Theresa J. Tistan

Theresa J. Tistan, 97, of Kingwood Township, NJ passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 26, 2022.

Born October 24, 1924 in Linden, NJ, Theresa was the daughter of the late Charles and Theresa (Kelemen) Szekeres.

Theresa worked for the U.S. Post Office in Frenchtown, NJ as a rural mail carrier until her retirement in 1987. A devoted employee, Theresa was presented with an honorary accommodation from the Frenchtown postmaster for her dedication in delivering the mail through all types of weather.
Theresa especially enjoyed her garden and cooking. But her grandchildren gave her the most joy later in life. She has also given her family wonderful memories and she will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Steven T. Tistan in 1975. She was also predeceased by her brothers Ernie, Charles and Edward Szekeres and her sisters Lillian Roper, Ella DiMaggio, Elizabeth Stachnik and Mary Matthews.

She is survived by her sisters Sophie Gyorfi, Sylvia Hendricks, and Alice O’Dor, three daughters Carol Tistan, Nancy Reasoner and her husband Timothy, Alice Orrichio and her husband John and her son Ernest Tistan and his wife Stephanie. Also, four grandchildren, Rachel Reasoner, Willard Reasoner and his wife Laura, Steven Orrichio and his wife Talita and Zachary Tistan. The blessing of two great grandchildren Gauge Eastwood and Gabriella Reasoner.

Services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ 08848.
